In the course of the last 14 years, Clean & Sober has developed a program that works for homeless men and women who are determined to overcome their addiction to drugs and alcohol. This program includes the following elements:
An intake, assessment and referral office, located at Loaves & Fishes.
Two recovery communities (New Start I and New Start II) with 60 residents.
Four transitional apartment units with 40 residents.
A follow-up effort that assists residents with past legal issues, family reunification, education, job training and job referral.
Daily 12-step meetings adjacent to the Clean & Sober intake offices.
Close working relationships with more than two dozen detox and treatment programs in the Sacramento area.
Clean & Sober is unique in at least three ways:
With administrative and fundraising costs just 10% of our total budget, we provide intake, assessment and referral services to 75 persons each month (average) and residential recovery to 100 persons on any given night.
No one is turned away because he or she lacks financial resources. Clean & Sober provides a monthly subsidy for those who can provide only part (or none) of the program’s costs.
Residents in Clean & Sober communities can stay up to a year and then transfer to a transitional apartment for up to two years. The program is effective because our residents can surround themselves with twelve step leaders and live and work with others committed to sobriety - for as long as it takes.
Clean & Sober receives no government funds. We rely totally on our donors, one annual fundraising benefit and foundation grants.
